We are a small and friendly Club
now based at the Wordsworth Room, March Library, March, PE15 9LT. It meets at 7.00 p.m. every Thursday from the beginning of
September to the end of April (and by virtual meetings only during
the Covid-19 pandemic).
The Club has been established in its
current basis since at least the early 1960’s, its earlier history
however is unfortunately not documented. With the advance of the Digital
Age the world of photography changed immensely and the Club embraced the opportunities with enthusiasm. We do retain the knowledge
and appreciation of traditional photography and its methods among our
membership but our main interest as an active Camera Club is in the
final image, be it a projection or a print.
The Club has over 20 active
members and a programme embracing the following activities:
Internal
competitions
External
competitions
Exhibitions
Demonstrations and
lectures
Trips
Social Evenings
Throughout the year the Club invites
guest speakers to give lectures on a wide range of topics from
photographic techniques and printing through to digital presentations.
The Club is affiliated to the East Anglian Federation of Photographic
Societies through which it is affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of
Great Britain. By virtue of this membership, the Club is able to
participate in events that are organized or sponsored by these groups.
The Club is an ideal way to share
your pictures. By looking at other people's work you are able to get new
ideas for places to go, subjects, methods, equipment, ways to show
photographs and standards. Most importantly it is an enjoyable reason to
take pictures. You can ask how pictures have been taken and learn new
techniques. You can take advantage of the informal part of meetings
(start, end and coffee break) to ask for help, give help and to talk to
people who take the sort of pictures that interest you.
Annual Subscription
2023/24 is £35 (half
price for those in full-time education and £10 discount for joint
members).
There is also a £2.00
attendance fee on every club night.
New members
are always welcome – why not come along for a free taster one Thursday
evening?
